How to Make Facilities Safer with Floor Mats in 2020

The big box stores have already started putting up their holiday decorations, so you know that 2020 is just around the corner.

Floor mats make any commercial space safer. How about making your facility safer with some floor mats in 2020?

Floor mats increase traction.

When you put down a floor mat on any hard floor, you immediately increase the traction for foot traffic. Not enough traction is one of the major causes of slips, trips, and falls. According to the National Safety Council, over nine million people visited an emergency room in 2016 from a slip, trip, or fall.

Floor mats remove and trap dirt, debris, and water from the soles of shoes.

If you don’t try to remove this dirt and water from your foot traffic at the door, then the dirt and water is spread through the facility. Dirt and water on the floor decrease traction and make the floor more dangerous. If you’ve ever slipped on a wet vinyl floor, you’ll know what we mean.

You should have entrance mats at every entrance. The International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA) estimates that as much as 80% of dirt can be removed from shoes if you use entrance mats.

Anti-fatigue mats make employees feel better.

If you have areas where employees are on their feet for long periods of time, anti-fatigue mats make the employees feel better by cutting down on joint wear and tear.

If you can help employees to feel better while doing their jobs, then you will, in turn, cut down on lost time and doctor appointments.

Mats can improve safety everywhere in the facility.

You may have lots of areas that would benefit from mats: shower or locker rooms, exercise rooms, kitchen areas, or clean rooms, for example. All of these areas can benefit from the increased traction that comes from mats. Don’t worry—we have mats designed for all of these commercial spaces, even mats that are chemical-resistant, anti-microbial, and/or eco-friendly.

And remember to get enough mats. You always want to have spare mats that you can use while you’re washing or drying mats that have become dirty.

Make 2020 your safest year ever by investing in some high-quality commercial mats for your facility. All slips, trips, and falls are preventable.
