Entrance\nmats significantly cut down on slip, trip, and fall accidents. There\u2019s no\nargument there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>You need to put\nappropriate mats in appropriate places.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nmeans that outside the entrance, you should be putting down scraper mats or\nrecessed mats with grills that remove a substantial portion of dirt, water, and\ndebris before stepping foot in the inside mat, for example. Kitchens needs\nkitchen mats. You get the idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Mats need to be in\ngood repair.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Mats\nthat are worn with torn or rippled edges are not helping you\u2014they may make the\nproblem worse. Mats need to be clean and in good repair. That means you need\nenough mats so that you can pull and wash dirty mats and immediately have a\nclean one to put in its place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>It\u2019s the business\nowner\u2019s responsibility to identify areas prone to slip, trip, and fall\naccidents and put mats down accordingly.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nmeans you should be aware of where water pools, for instance. And you should be\nkeeping records of accidents so you can see patterns. For example, do you have\na plant wall, and every time the plants get manually watered there is water on\nthe floor in one spot? Then you need a mat there. Or do you have showers and a\nlocker room and have wet areas in front of the lockers? Then you need mats\nthere designed for wet areas like that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>You need adequate\nmatting. <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nmeans you need not just the right mat, but the right size mats and the right\nnumber of mats depending on your situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each\nbusiness has different requirements based on the flooring, the traffic, the\nweather, and the type of traffic, too. Lots of kids wearing sneakers is not the\nsame thing as lots of luggage carts rolling back and forth all day with\nhundreds of pounds of luggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\ncan help you determine what you need for matting because it\u2019s not an exact\nscience.
