But selection is a common sense process and isn\u2019t difficult, so here is your quick checklist when choosing a doormat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Size Matters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bigger the better. Make sure the mat is at least big enough for someone to stand on with both feet when entering. At a minimum, the mat should be almost as big as the doorway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Inside or Outside<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Where do you want your mat to lie? Do you want it to remove dirt and debris from people\u2019s shoes <em>before<\/em> they enter the premises? Or is inside the doorway good enough.<\/p>\n<p>Mats are often made specifically to be used either inside or outside but not both (there are exceptions.) So first decide where you want the mat. Outside mats are usually made with tougher materials because they have to withstand more wear and tear and big temperature fluctuations. You can use an outdoor mat inside, but you will have difficulty using an inside mat outside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Weather<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Are you in an area where you have very heavy and\/or seasonal rainy seasons? If so, you may want to consider a mat designed to handle a lot of water like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eaglemat.com\/waterhog-mats.html\">Waterhog mats<\/a>. These mats have a distinctive appearance and are ready to tackle super wet areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Care Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some mats are easier to care for than others. Is that important to you? Do you want to be able to put them in a (commercial) washing machine? Most mats can simply be vacuumed and\/or hosed off if necessary. Inquire about the care instructions if this is important to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Price<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Price shouldn\u2019t be the only consideration, but in all likelihood, you will need more than one mat. Because mats have to be cleaned and dried before reuse, so you need at least a second mat to use while you are cleaning and drying the first one.
