\"Protecting<\/a>Elevator pads<\/a> protect more than just the interior of the elevator cab.\u00a0 Yes:\u00a0 These protective pads hang vertically to cover the walls and control panels of an elevator.\u00a0 However, elevator protection pads also protect passengers who ride in the cab while transporting commercial goods, furniture, and other large objects.<\/p>\n

Elevators at Home<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most common occurrence of at-home elevators is seen in multi-floor residential complexes.\u00a0 Apartment buildings, high-rise condominiums, and other tall residential structures are all fine examples.\u00a0 While tall buildings provide elevators out of pure necessity, smaller residential buildings may also be required by state statute to provide elevator systems as a means of \u201creasonable entry\u201d for residents.\u00a0 A building that is five stories high, for example, may be required to have elevators simply to assist in the daily ingress and egress of tenants.<\/p>\n

Elevator protection pads are particularly important in these residential settings for several reasons.\u00a0 First, residents must use elevators to move furniture and other large objects to and from their unit.\u00a0 There is simply no other way to move an oven, couch, or washing machine into an apartment that is 10 stories high without risking injury or incurring a large expense.<\/p>\n

Second, it is important to consider that most buildings do not require tenants to hire a professional moving agency to help during a move-in or move-out.\u00a0 This leaves the interior of the elevator cab susceptible to damage that is inevitably caused by tenants who are not proficient in loading and unloading elevators.<\/p>\n

Finally, residential elevators may or may not be reserved for the exclusive use of a tenant who is moving in or moving out.\u00a0 Depending on the organization that manages the building, other tenants may have to share an elevator with those who are transporting their belongings.\u00a0 In this instance, elevator pads provide a thick layer of protection that covers the panels of the interior cab, along with any sharp or pointed pieces of d\u00e9cor.\u00a0 This further protects passengers in the event that furniture, boxes, or other items shift during transportation.<\/p>\n

Elevators at Work<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elevator protection pads<\/a> serve many of the same protective functions at work as they do at home.\u00a0 These include the following:<\/p>\n
